Senario Rising for Tide's Hoops Squad
In a season that has been marred by ups and downs, there is one bright spot on the Alabama team. His name is Senario Hillman, and his abilities will probably surprise you. Those of you who watch ESPN's top 10 plays every day have seen Senario over the past couple of days.
Yes, he is small, at only 6' 1" 188 lbs. His vertical says other things about his game. He is the complete and total package. He can score, and he can play some pretty good defense. His small stature does not hinder his abilities on the floor. This man has come to play. Since the Tide's Scrimmage game to start the season, I have been watching and waiting for the Tide to realize his full potential. He is the electrifying force that we need on our team. He have some pretty good players, but we haven't had a flashy athletic presence like Senario.
The best part: he's a freshman. He has been discovered later than I had hoped, but he is earning his playing time. Against Tennessee and Auburn, he averaged 27 minutes, 10 points, 4.5 assists, 1.5 steals, and only 0.5 turnovers. Those are some productive minutes. He can score, pass, and play defense. He even helped share the load guarding Chris Lofton last night, but the largest impact he has had is not shown in the stat books. In the box score, two points is two points, but in an almost packed Coleman Coliseum, that two points is a feeling of elation. It is what keeps us in the game. It brings the fans to their feet. It is what gets you in ESPN's top 10 countdown. It is what gets you noticed. He has created a positive impact with the way he plays the game. No matter when he is on the floor, it is definitely the right Senario for Alabama.
