Not exactly even..
It’s been a good year for the SEC. It is currently the 2nd-ranked conference in RPI. It boast the defending national champion in Florida, and several strong, second tier teams in Tennessee, Vanderbilt, and Kentucky.
However, nobody invited the SEC West to the party. With their 91-67 win over Alabama, long forgotten Mississippi State won a share of the SEC West title. Even more surprising, they shared that title with in-state rival, Ole Miss.
It’s probable that the West will not garner a single bid to the NCAA tourney. How disappointing for a division that started the season with two Top-15 teams(LSU and Alabama), a strong conference contender(Arkansas), and two possible All-Americans(Davis of LSU and Ronald Steele of Alabama).
